Dear Summer Reading Kids,
Ahoy, readers! This week, we set sail into adventure but ended up “Shipwrecked!”
We imagined life as explorers and pirates, searching for hidden treasure and solving mysterious clues. We read Port Side Pirates by Oscar Seaworthy and joined in on a lively seafaring adventure.
For our craft, everyone created their own treasure map, carefully drawing paths, adding landmarks, ripping the edges, and staining it with tea to make it look old and weathered.
Then we put our explorer skills to the test with an exciting scavenger hunt, solving clues and answering questions as we searched for treasure!
If you couldn’t join us, try making your own treasure map and hide a “treasure” for someone to find. We have colouring sheets that you can print at home or at your local library. We also encourage you to check out some books from our Week 6 reading list while you’re visiting!
