Dear Summer Reading Kids,

We’ve reached our final week of Summer Reading Club, and we’re ending with an important and inspiring theme: Water Heroes: Protecting Our Waterways.

After a whole summer of exploring everything from ponds to oceans, we took time to think about how we can care for the water around us. We read We Are Water Protectors by Carole Lindstrom and talked about why protecting our lakes, rivers, and oceans matters so much.

This week, we created our own Ocean Animals, celebrating all the ways we can make a difference. We also reflected on our favourite memories from the summer and made a water pledge to help protect our environment.

For anyone who couldn’t make it, try making your own pledge at home or think of one thing you can do to help keep water clean and safe. We have colouring sheets that you can print at home or at your local library. We also encourage you to check out some books from our Week 8 reading list while you’re visiting!

As this is our final week, we also celebrated all the incredible reading you’ve done and handed out special prizes and a new book to all our participants.

Thank you for diving in with us this summer. We had such an amazing time exploring, reading, and creating with all of you!

Sincerely,
Giselle and Sarah
